…which is why I urge Dutch clients in Italian football not to curse. Though we talk about cursing in Italian – one has to understand one’s surroundings after all. Not just to escape a ban, but more importantly: not to offend (too much). Swear words are among the first you pick up while learning a new language. Can be fun. Can get you in trouble. For it is difficult as a foreigner – especially a beginner – to grasp the exact meaning, background, context and implications.
